One of my pastor friends goes above and beyond to improve his sermons every single week. Perhaps his devotion may inspire some of you.

My friend benefits from a small group of respected and effective communicators who review his upcoming messages. Every Thursday he sends them his sermon outline and manuscript.

Life gets busy, so he makes sure no one feels obligated to respond every week. But often, they offer helpful feedback and ideas for improvement.

I am privileged to be one of the people from whom he solicits feedback, and I deeply appreciate his teachable spirit. It’s not unusual for him to respond with further questions about my suggestions as he weighs my insights carefully. If every preacher tried something similar, their communication skills would greatly improve. I’ve found this principle true for myself as well. The key is having the right people giving feedback and having a humble and teachable spirit that carefully examines the advice given.
