One religion says that they have the truth while another one makes the same claim. Common sense says they cannot all be right. If they all were, then there would possibly be a minimum of 50 different ways to God.
Determining which one is right is not as difficult as it may seem. In your searching, ask yourself one question: what is the one belief on which that particular religion stands or falls? In other words, what is the foundation?
Christianity, for example, stands or falls on the empty tomb of Christ. The Bible speaks of the Christ of Christianity, but the proof of Christianity’s validity is not solely the Bible. Christ claimed that He rose on the third day. If he did, Christianity is true. If He didn’t, nothing that Christianity proclaims matters.
The empty tomb of Christ is the most attested fact of history. Many have quoted Thomas Arnold who wrote a three volume history of Rome and was appointed to the Chair of Modern History of Oxford. He stated, “I have been used for many years to study the histories of other times and to examine and weigh the evidence of those who have written about them and I know of no one fact in the history of mankind which is proved by better and fuller evidence of every sort to the understanding of a fair inquirer than that Christ died and rose again from the dead.”
I personally have also never met anyone who studied the evidence behind the empty tomb of Christ with objectivity who did not become a believer. Years ago, I challenged a person to study the evidence behind the empty tomb for himself. He later said of those facts, “I had no idea there was so much proof.” He was truly overwhelmed with the historical proof behind the resurrection of Christ.
Therefore, having proven to be the One He said He was through his resurrection, Jesus Christ has a right to say, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). If we come to Him as sinners, recognize that He died for us and rose again, and trust Him to save us, we can live forever with God: “Because, I live, you shall live also” (John 14:9).
No religion is any better than the foundation on which it stands. Christianity is the one and only true religion because unlike all others, it stands on an empty tomb that has never been explained away.
